I'm back! Cricut Circle Blog August Monthly Challenge

Wow! I needed that creative break, but it sure felt good to make something again! I began dipping my toe into the creative pool again by visiting some of my favorite creative websites and blogs. By the time I got to the Cricut Circle Blog, the monthly challenge: create a scene, fit one of the ideas already flowing in my head.

This year in particular, Back to School season has felt more like New Years. Purging the kids' toys that are no longer played with and clothes that no longer fit, buying them new school clothes, removing the pool gear that was used almost daily from my car...and making my annual resolution to be more organized, less forgetful this school year. To aid this resolution, I've made myself a notebook for Booster Club volunteering.

Materials used:
Mead memo book
Bazzill cardstock: Red Devil, Blackbird, Mexican Poppy
Creative Imagination printed paper: Studio Basics 101 - Growing Up Collection - Apples
Stickles glitter glue: Xmas Red, Black Diamond, Yellow, Crystal
Cricut cartridges: Pop Up Neighborhood, Create A Critter
Red ribbon

When I use a Mead memo book to create a journal/notebook, I cut the outer cover background paper at 12" h x 9" w to allow for a fold over to glue down onto the inside cover. For this book I cut the Cricut Pop Up Neighborhood school at 4" and bus at 1.5".

The inside cover was finished off with the back side of the printed paper, measured at 9" h x 6" w. Glued in between the paper and the cover is a ribbon to use as a bookmark.

I always make sure to finish the outside and inside of the back cover as well (same measurements as listed for the front cover).

My kids' elementary school mascot is a cardinal, so I added this cute 3" bird from the Cricut Create A Critter cartridge to the back cover.
